This finger-like extension in the
southeast corner of the region is

located
between Myanmar and Bangladesh. The name means Hill People's land- from
Mizo- Man of the hill and Ram, Land. An amalgam of the former north and
south Lushai hill districts, it is a land of great natural beauty, an
endless variety of landscape with rich flora and fauna and clusters of
quaint villages.
The capital city of Aizawal offers a variety of places that carry a
distinct touch. The Bara Bazar, in the center of the town, is an interesting
market. Good places for weaving and bags are the Weaving Center and
Soloman's Cave. Bamboo items are a good buy. The Mizoram State Museum offers
a good collection of traditional Mizo dress and implements. A mini zoo is a
must visit for the kids.
Take part in the colorful festivals and dances of the Mizos that have a
unique tribal flavour. The beauty of the state is best experienced during
the months of winters.
